The Andean indigenous Bursera Graveolens tree naturally produces aromatic hypoallergenic resin that grows in concentration with age.
The value of this sacred gift was clear from the first discovery of its lasting torchlight and beautiful scent. Bursera Graveolens lives for 40 to 90 years; after death, the wood matures four to ten more years before it falls. Only then it's consecrated as “Sacred Wood” (Palo Santo).
By respecting this cycle, we ensure the highest quality hand-chosen offerings. Each year we reserve a select portion of high resin Peruvian Palo Santo wood.
Artisanal fragrant speckled resin incense sticks made from a blend of Breu resin and high resin Palo Santo wood. Palo Santo Tree, (Bursera graveolens), also known as Torchwood or Incense family, naturally produces an aromatic non-allergenic resin that increases in concentration with age.
The Holy wood we use comes from trees that have already completed their life cycle and dies naturally, from 40 to 90 years. Once the tree has fallen, an alchemical process of natural transformation that lasts between 4 and 10 years takes place. Only after that time has past does the wood receives its aromatic and healing properties and is consecrated as Holy Wood (Palo Santo).
Breu resin comes from the Almacega tree of the Amazon rainforest, also known as sacred Breu (Breuzinho or White Breu). It is used in healing rituals, to ward off dark spirits and invite good energy. Also known for possessing properties that could bring regression experiences and conscious dreams after ritualistic use. Breu’s aromatic resin is rich in alpha and beta-amyrina triterpenes, which possess anti-inflammatory, analgesic and gastro-protective properties. The Department of Physiology and Pharmacology of the Federal University of Ceará, Brazil indicated breu for respiratory trouble, stomach ache, liver malfunction, and mental acuity.
